Turnip tops are actually the young plants of turnips that have been sown close together. Of all the spring vegetables it is one that can be harvested the earliest. It has a tasty, spicy flavour, and can be eaten like spinach. It contains many minerals such as calcium, potassium, sodium as well as vitamins B and C. Sow in rows in the garden in early spring or in a greenhouse as of autumn. Do not sow too thickly, and do not thin out. Harvest the crop once it is 20 cm high, and cut just above ground level.
